Iran routs Costa Rika to bag third straight victory

TEHRAN, Oct. 14 (MNA) – Young Iranian footballers nailed Costa Rican rivals to mark their third undefeated encounter at FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 underway in India.

Competing at the preliminary stage of the sportive event, Persian footballers pulled out a 3-0 victory over opponents from Costa Rica to firmly stand on top of Group C with a total of nine points.

Abbas Chamanian’s boys found the net twice in the first half with two penalty shootouts in 25th and 29th minutes. Iran’s third goal was scored late into the stunning match by Mohammad Sardari.

Members of the Iranian national team had previously defeated Guinea (3-1) and Germany (4-0).

The 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup is the 17th FIFA U-17 World Cup, a biennial international football tournament contested by men's under-17 national teams. Organized by FIFA, the tournament is taking place in India between 6 October and 28 October 2017.
